For as long as I can remember,
The windows always glowed for me,
In the room filled with quiet spring,
And embroidered towels on the wall.
In that sacred, peaceful chamber,
A child’s heart would read and know
Shevchenko’s kind and watchful eyes,
And golden patterns in a row.
Chorus
Mother, your children are like birds, Spreading wings into the sky. Mother, to your tender room, We’ll return again by and by.
Verse 2
That endless childhood temptation –
Open the door and you will see,
A table dressed in Sunday white
And mother waiting patiently.
Verse 3
For as long as I can remember,
That white cloth always shone so bright.
In your room, dear mother, I know,
Every day felt like Sunday light.
Chorus
Mother, your children are like birds, Spreading wings into the sky. Mother, to your tender room, We’ll return again by and by.
Verse 4
Maybe far from home and shelter,
My wings will falter in the air.
The star will fade, and after that –
No more nightingales anywhere.
Verse 5
Son, remember this, my son –
No matter where life takes your flight,
All may leave their mother’s home,
But none forget its gentle light.
Chorus (x2)
Mother, your children are like birds, Spreading wings into the sky. Mother, to your tender room, We’ll return again by and by.

Photonic Integrated Comb Lasers
Pilot Photonics offers unique optical comb source and photonic integrated circuit solutions developed as part of a platform technology applicable to many markets including communications, spectroscopy, sensing and metrology. Our products’ form-factors range from bare chips to fully integrated opto-electronic modules.
Pilot Photonics has developed the world’s smallest and most versatile optical comb source. Based on Photonic Integration, these devices measure just a few millimeters in length, but they offer significant benefits over conventional lasers
Pilot Photonics has been chosen for the Irish government’s Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund (DTIF). Our proposal, Irish Lasers for the Internet of the Future (iLife), will focus Pilot’s comb laser technology on the capacity crunch problem of data demands beyond the limits of standard optical fibre networks.
Pilot's integrated lasers, and laser combs are tackling problems in the optical access (NG-PON2) and optical transport (1T) markets.
Oil and Gas
Pilot's innovative dual-comb PICs can be applied to gas spectroscopy, and as fiber optic sensor interrogators for structural health, and down-well monitoring.
Space
Pilot's comb sources are currently being applied to many diverse space applications from light sources for atomic clocks, to sensor interrogators for satellite monitoring.
