Pilot Photonics has announced additional investments into the company of more than €700k with the seed round closing in July 2019. The investment was led by new CEO William Oppermann and supported by a group of Angel Investors as well as early Pilot investor, the AIB Seed Capital Fund, managed by Dublin Business Innovation Centre (DBIC).
The investment comes on the back of a number of significant wins for the company including a new €600k contract with the European Space Agency, and a €2.3m project as part of the Irish Government’s Disruptive Technology Innovation Fund (DTIF), which the company leads along with partners Dublin City University and Trinity College Dublin.
Pilot has developed a type of laser known as an optical comb laser, using state of the art semiconductor processing known as photonic integration. The technology can be used across a whole spectrum of applications, including optical telecommunications environmental monitoring, and self-driving cars.
Our photonic integration expertise enables us to design PICs to for a wide range of applications.
The patented gain switching technique creates a flexible comb of coherent wavelengths.
The ability to select individual comb lines is critical for communications, and frequency metrology.
Pilot Photonics produces innovative comb based products in a number of form-factors from bare chips up to fully integrated opto-electronic modules.
