William Oppermann appointed CEO of Pilot Photonics

William Oppermann, founder and former CEO of the successful Irish start-up MPSTOR, has been appointed as the CEO of Pilot Photonics.

William Oppermann is a serial entrepreneur who has successfully created technology start-ups in server design, telecommunications and data storage. He has been through the scale-up journey several times and his last company MPSTOR, a data storage company, was sold in 2016 for €40M to a Tier1 global Nasdaq-listed EMS supplier.

Founder Frank Smyth will take back up his original role in the company as Chief Technology Officer and had this to say: “William was introduced to the company by our mutual investor Kernel Capital and worked with us in an advisory role for almost 18 months. I am delighted to have been able to attract someone of William’s caliber and experience to lead the company as we transition into our growth phase.”
